Intimate surgery

Intimate surgery includes surgical procedures on the vulva and vagina that are not medically prescribed but are desired by the patient. We provide advice to patients who have complaints of discomfort during sexual intercourse after childbirth or who are unsettled by the appearance of the intimate area. Such discomfort can be very stressful on various levels. We are professional highly experienced gynecologists that provide services to explain and demystify gynecological pains and to offer treatment options accordingly.

Labiaplasty / labia correction

The demand for labiaplasty has increased worldwide in recent years. The most common request from patients concerns the size of the inner labia (labia minora). The labia minora that protrudes significantly beyond the labia majora can cause severe discomfort during general physical activities, including sex. It can also be perceived as unattractive and lower self-confidence.

Labiaplasty should only be performed by experienced gynecologists who provide holistic treatments and focus on natural results. This is the only way to avoid striving for a misunderstood norm.

Reasons for the intervention

  • Congenital malformations
  • Changes after birth or menopause
  • Negative body awareness
  • Pain (e.g. during various sports or sexual intercourse)

Procedure
Labiaplasty is performed under short anesthesia in the outpatient clinic. Typically, the procedure takes only a few hours and recuperation is about three days.

The cost is CHF 1700, with an additional CHF 1700 for the anesthesiologist and the surgery center. These costs are not covered by health insurance.

Perineal reconstruction after births

After births, women often feel significantly changed around the genitals. This may be due to perineal tears or incisions, or simply due to slackening of the vaginal wall (see also Femilift), which does not allow for complete well-being after healing. Here, too, holistic consultation is essential. The topics of pelvic floor, sexuality and aesthetics merge smoothly. Surgical reconstruction of the perineum and tightening of the vaginal skin may also be enhanced.

The cost is CHF 1700, with an additional CHF 1700 for the anesthesiologist and the surgery center. Once the costs have been approved, the health insurance company may cover the costs.

Vaginal laser (Femilift)

The vaginal mucosa changes under the influence of hormones: it typically becomes drier and flabbier with menopause or post-labor (laxity). This is accompanied by various issues that affect sexuality, such as pain or reduced sensitivity during intercourse. Involuntary leakage of urine is another symptom, as the urethra is less supported by the vaginal wall. Laser treatment is an effective, low-pain, and hormone-free treatment option. The vaginal mucosa becomes firmer, thicker and better supplied with blood again. It helps alleviate these symptoms whether they were caused by menopause, hormone deficiency related to cancer therapy and post-labor conditions. This specialized treatment is performed in our practice.

(Interview with Dr. Bettina von Seefried in the Health Guide)

Reasons for the treatment

  • Vaginal dryness during menopause or after chemotherapy (alternative to hormone therapy)
  • Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI)
  • Changed body sensation
  • Recurring vaginal infections
  • Issues after childbirth
  • Vaginal tightening
  • Lichen Sclerosus

Implementation
3 treatments at intervals of four weeks
The total cost is CHF 1800. The treatment is not covered by health insurance.

Vaginal PRP (Orgasm Shot)

Complaints such as pain in the intimate area, lack of libido or flattened orgasm can affect women of all ages. Autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has played an important role in the field of skin and wound regeneration for years. It has been used in a wide variety of specialties for more than 30 years and is now applicable in the field of gynecology.

Platelet-rich plasma is extracted from the patient's blood, which is full of growth factors. The goal is to stimulate the growth of new cells and to make the injected areas more sensitive.

Typical reasons for the use of vaginal PRP are:

  • Libido disorders
  • Flattened orgasm
  • Lichen sclerosus
  • Pain in the intimate area

Procedure
The treatment is performed in the practice under local anesthesia.
The costs range from CHF 600 to CHF 800. These costs are not covered by health insurance.

Scar correction with laser

They can hardly be avoided in life: Injuries that leave a more or less noticeable scar after healing. If these scars are unattractively discolored or even significantly thickened, they not only lead to functional limitations, but can also represent a psychological burden.

The fractional CO2-laser punches tiny holes in the skin, leaving the surrounding tissue intact. As a result, the body produces new collagen and elastin and fills in the skin from below. Scars and and hyperpigmentation fade away and the skin appears more even.

Striae (stretch marks)

The fractional laser therapy can be used to improve stretch marks in a particularly gentle and effective way. Stretch marks always appear when the skin is strongly stretched in a relatively short time, for example during pregnancy or weight gain. With the laser beam, the skin is slightly injured and begins a healing process. During this healing, skin-tightening collagen and elastin are formed, which firm the skin in the treated areas and improve elasticity. As a result, the stretch marks fade.

Cesarean scars

Depending on the type of injury, the condition of the wound edges, the wound hygiene, but also depending on age and genetic factors, different visible scars may remain. In most cases, the cesarean section scar heals very nicely, but hypertrophic scars or keloid scars can also occur. Some severe scars require surgical correction. Others can be corrected by laser treatment or with the help of platelet-rich plasma (PRP).

Implementation
Treatment with the latest CO2 laser technology is painless in most cases, so that even larger areas can be treated without any problems. No prior local anesthetic measures are necessary. The treatment takes between 15 and a maximum of 60 minutes depending on the size and extent.

The cost per session is CHF 300. 1-4 sessions are recommended at intervals of 4 weeks. The treatment is not covered by health insurance.

Botulinum toxin A (excessive sweating, hyperhidrosis)

A very effective therapy for hyperhidrosis is the local injection of botulinum toxin A. This drug temporarily blocks the sensitive nerve fibers on the sweat glands, reducing axillary sweating to a minimum.

Implementation
Before treatment, a local anesthetic cream is applied for 20 minutes. After the subsequent injection of botulinum toxin A, the full effect occurs after 5-7 days and lasts for about half a year.

The cost is CHF 750
The treatment is not covered by health insurance.

Treatment of mimic wrinkles

Botulinum anti-wrinkle treatment is a safe, established and effective method of fighting wrinkles. Unwanted mimic wrinkles can be weakened or eliminated in a targeted manner. The injections achieve that overactive mimic muscles are immobilized and relax. For example, a botulinum treatment can be used to treat frown lines, smile lines, crow's feet on the sides of the eyes or transverse wrinkles on the forehead.

At gynXtra you will be informed in a detailed consultation about the advantages and disadvantages, effects and possible side effects of a treatment with botulinum toxin. A harmonious facial expression and natural facial expressions should be preserved, therefore we work according to the principle "less is more".

The cost of wrinkle smoothing injections per session:

  • Forehead frown lines from CHF 350
  • Forehead whole and smile lines eyes / frown lines from CHF 550

Doctors in Switzerland are only allowed to give limited information about botulinum toxin treatments due to Swissmedic regulations and the ban on advertising of medicines.
