Sweating is a vital body function that regulates the body's temperature balance. Increased sweating without recognizable internal or external causes is called primary hyperhidrosis. Armpit sweat is often interpreted as a sign of excitement or uncertainty and usually represents a high psychological burden for the patient.
A very effective therapy for hyperhidrosis is the local injection of botulinum toxin A. This drug temporarily blocks the sensitive nerve fibers on the sweat glands. This reduces axillary sweating to a minimum.
Application
Before the treatment, a local anesthetic cream is applied for 20 minutes. After the subsequent injection of botulinum toxin A, the full effect occurs after 5-7 days and lasts about half a year.
The costs are CHF 750. The treatment is not covered by the health insurance.
