Every woman should have regular gynecological check-ups from around the age of 20. As a gynecologist, I recommend such examinations annually or at least every 18 months. The health insurance companies cover the costs of preventive medical checkups as a mandatory benefit every 3 years.
The provision includes:
Palpation of the chest
The examination of the abdomen with taking a cancer smear
Depending on the situation or stage of life, we will discuss the following preventive examinations:
mammography / breast ultrasound
Ultrasound of the uterus / ovaries
Clarifications for the presence of sexually transmitted diseases
As part of the preventive medical checkups, topics such as contraception, family planning or taking hormones are of course often discussed.
