Specialist consultation for fibroids

A fibroid consultation is a specialised consultation within gynaecology that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of fibroids (also known as uterine fibroids). Myomas are the most common, hormone-dependent, benign tumours in women that develop in the uterine wall. This consultation is aimed at women who have symptoms such as heavy menstrual bleeding, pain, a feeling of pressure in the lower abdomen or fertility problems that could be due to fibroids.

During a fibroid consultation, we will enquire about your medical history and current symptoms

The best diagnostic procedure is an ultrasound examination of the uterus to determine the location, number and size of the fibroids. This requires a high level of expertise and can primarily be offered in our consultation hours specialising in fibroids with excellent ultrasound equipment. Sometimes additional imaging using MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) may be necessary.

We will then inform you about the various treatment options, which can vary depending on the location and size of the fibroids, as well as your individual needs. These include conservative measures, drug therapies and various surgical procedures. We can also offer you Sonata radiofrequency ablation, a minimally invasive, gentle and incision-free procedure for the treatment of fibroids.
